Current Skincare Routine

Friday 14 August 2015

I have never been big on skincare, but recently I was sent a few products, and I also bought a couple of things that sounded interesting. I thought I would try get a bit of a routine into my skincare, and this is what I came up with.

My skin is normal to dry, and I rarely get pimples or redness, and I consider myself pretty lucky that the worst thing I have to deal with is the occasional dry patch. Before this my skin care consisted of moisturising in the morning, and then at night I would take my makeup off with Micellar water and that was it. I didn't exfoliate, cleanse, nothing. I would wash my face with water in the shower at night but nothing else.
Morning:

When I wake up the first thing I do is wash my face with cold water and use the 'Grown Alchemist: Pink Grapefruit and Glucomannan Extract Facial Polishing Exfoliant'. It is really refreshing and is a gentle exfoliant which is great for every day use. I also find that it makes my skin really soft and smooth ready for makeup application.

After that I always follow up with a moisturiser. Lately I have been loving this 'Clinique: Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion'. But for years I have used the 'Aveeno: Daily Moisturising Lotion', and I still do after a shower as a body moisturiser.

Right before I apply my makeup I will spray my face a couple of times with the amazing 'Grown Alchemist: Hydra-Mist + Desert Lime and Amino-Peptide'. This thing is so refreshing, and really hydrates my skin. I would highly recommend it to anyone with dry skin! On the bottle it even says you can use it as a hydrating mist throughout the day over your makeup, but I haven't tried that yet.

Evening:

When I am ready to take my makeup off I always use the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I have nearly finished my fifth bottle of the stuff, so if that isn't love then I don't know what is! After that I'll go in with some kind of cleansing oil. I have been using the 'Natio: Argan and Almond Facial Cleansing Balm', but honestly it's nothing to write home about. If you have any good oil cleanser recommendations please leave me a comment, I would love to try a new one. Then I'll moisturise with whatever I can find, again either the Clinique or Aveeno one usually.

When I am about to get into bed I will put a little bit of 'Grown Alchemist: Regenerating Night Cream Neuro-Peptide and Violet Leaf Extract' and 'Clinique: All About Eyes Cream'. I have noticed a huge difference in the smoothness and texture of my skin the next morning when I use the Grown Alchemist night cream, and I have made quite a big dent in that one. However I haven't noticed any difference under my eyes yet from the Clinique cream.
As for face masks, I can't say I have found any that I can whole-heartedly recommend as I can't really tell a difference in my skin after using any. If you have any favourites I would love to hear about them.

If you have any skincare favourites you can't live without, please let me know! I am now on a skincare hunt to perfect my routine.
