Colour Pop Review

Saturday 7 February 2015

I am feeling like the girl in red dress dancing emoji right now, because Colour Pop ship to Australia!! woo!!

It may cost a small fortune but at least they ship here right? I have been waiting for this day for so long, after Youtubers had been dropping hints left, right and centre. The moment they announced they were shipping to Australia I quickly reposted the image on my Instagram and went online to order.

I ordered 5 Colour Shock Eye Shadows, 3 Lippie Pencils and 1 Lippie Stick. Everything on their website is $5 each so my order came to $45 USD, plus $21 USD for shipping ( :o ), at the time the conversion rate was pretty bang on so I paid $77 AUD for my order including shipping!

The first thing I decided to get was Shannon's (shaaanxo on youtube) collab with Colour Pop which is four amazing eye shadows! There is a shimmery champagne 'XO', matte khaki green 'Rebel', 'Deluxe' is a shimmer dark bronze, and lastly 'Selfie' is the perfect transition/all over the lid matte warm brown.

I was so surprised you could use these with a brush as I figured it was quite a creamy product so no way I could buff it into the crease or anything, but boy was I wrong! Check out my instagram (@livvbeautyy) to see how well 'Selfie' buffs out all over the lid and into the crease, it's beautiful! You can also get a more intense pigmented look by applying them with your finger.

As you can tell by these swatches they are insanely pigmented on just one swipe! They also seem to match the colours in my cactus perfectly...

My last shadow is called 'Amaze' and is a lovely rose gold/light bronze colour! It is perfect for an all over the lid shade, and also looks great in the outer colour with 'XO' all over the lid just to deepen it up a bit. The lighting was a bit off in the swatch below but it is just as pigmented as the other four shades I bought.

Now for lip products, the images on the website aren't that great. So instead of doing research on Youtube (which is what I did the second I received this order so I could plan my next one...oops) I just guessed which shades I would like! Luckily I know myself pretty well so I love everything I got.

The packaging is very sleek and nice and well thought out. They are a white tube with the colour, shade name and finish on the end, I store mine upside down in a container so I can see all the colours straight away. The swatches from top to bottom are 'Frida' which is a satin finish, 'Bound' which is a glossy finish, and 'Button' which is a matte formula. I wanted to try all their different formulas to see which one I like best and I honestly love them all!

As you can see when you take the lids off the Lippie Sticks they are a wind up lipstick that has a little nib which makes application super easy.

The first lip swatch is Button. This is a matte formula and is so gorgeous. The lasting power on this is incredible! I went out for about 5 hours, drank out of a straw and had a hot dog and when I was driving home it still looked the same as when I had first left! So impressed. Also, even though this is a matte, it is not drying in the slightest and still feels very creamy when you rub your lips together.

Next up is 'Bound' which is a glossy formula. Again, you can see how pigmented these Lippie Stix are. I haven't worn this one out yet but I am assuming it will have the same lasting power as the other two I bought. It is a light pink and is perfect on my skin tone..it would also be a nice Valentines Day shade!

Lastly here I have swatched 'Frida'. This was Dani's collab with Colour Pop (Coffeebreakwithdani on Youtube....coffee break with me! woo!) and is a lovely pink nude but is still quite a bright colour. This is a satin finish and I think is the most moisturising out of the three formulas I have.

The last thing I picked up was the matching lip liner to 'Frida'. Every Lippie Stix available has a corresponding Lippie Pencil which is such a great idea, some are the exact colour but others are a bit lighter or darker, created to complete that Lippie Stix.

As you can see the Lippie Pencil has a smaller and thinner nib, to ensure precision when lining your lips! You could also completely fill your lips in with the colour as well, they are very moisturising and I believe all Lippie Pencil's are a satin formula.

The heart is 'Frida' Lippie Pencil and the line is 'Frida' Lippie Stix. As you can see they are basically the same colour except on my lips I notice the liner is a tiny bit darker which is perfect when lining my lips.

That's my Colour Pop review and swatches done for today, I have already started making an extensive (already over 20 items oops) list for my next order, but I am going to wait until their blushes (!!!) come out, which look amazing and way bigger than an eye shadow, assuming they will cost around $10 but that's just a guess, and also I want to wait as Kathleen Lights on Youtube is working with Colour Pop again to come out with an eye shadow quad so I definitely want that! She also worked with them to come up with a matching lip duo called 'Lumiere' which I am kicking myself for not getting in this order!
